‘Medicine’ by Daughter
Described as ‘moody and electronicised, brooding and ambient’, Daughter is London based group I recently learned about, and have been listening to non-stop. They released their first EP ‘His Young Heart’ in April 2011, and ‘The Wild Youth’ in March of this year. Although they are relatively new, I have a feeling it’s only a matter of time before Daughter will be a huge sensation. Check out iTunes and learn more here and here.
Speaking of J.Crew, how incredible is this Bubble necklace? I think the hardest part would be choosing a color. I also really like Anthro’s Sedge & Rush necklace which is a bit more reasonably priced.
It’s no secret that Jenna Lyons (President and Executive Creative Director) plays a huge role J.Crew’s success. But, CEO Mickey Drexler is equally (if not more) integral in taking the brand from frumpy and flailing to a retail power house. Check out CNBC’s documentary “J.Crew and The Man Who Dressed America” to get a behind-the-scenes look into creating, marketing and refining the Fall 2012 line, plus the making of a catalog as they shoot in Palm Springs. If you don’t catch the premiere tonight, it’ll re-air on Sunday, May 27th. I don’t know about you, but my DVR is definitely set.
PS - Check out this clip. Apparently I’m not alone in my obsession with the polka dot shirt mentioned in a previous post.
Viviana Volpicella is the Assistant Fashion Editor at Vogue Nippon. Although I don’t know too much about her, a couple things are clear; she undeniably chic (as are most Italian women), has a gorgeous smile, and always looks impeccable. Serious girl crush.
I love the idea of hopping on a bike and cruising through the city (ideally wearing a really cute outfit with an awesome basket in front). Really can’t think of a more enjoyable way to get from place to place.
Today (May 18th) is National Bike to Work Day - unfortunately, not practical for me. But, for people with a short commute; such a great alternative to sitting in the car (especially on such a pretty day).
Apparently I am incapable of keeping outdoor plants alive. Every attempt at growing herbs and flowers on my balcony has resulted in a huge failure. However, when it comes to house plants I’m pretty much a pro. At some point I’d like to become a decent gardner, but in the mean time, an indoor herb garden seems to be a good solution. Might be a fun project and certainly handy to have fresh herbs for cooking - discovered here.
A couple pictures and random thoughts…
1. Recently bought the new Ray-Ban Wayfarers in the smallest size. I love that they are polarized and fit my face perfectly.
2. Snack Taxi - a good way to cut down on plastic baggies. Kind of dorky, but I dig it.
3. Mother’s Day card (by Fugu Fugu Press) for my amazing mom.
4. Milkglass vases and fresh sunflower.
5. These Madewell sandals are super comfortable and I like the pop of pink. Great for summer.
6. Leopard shirt from Zara
7. A very sweet puppy named Milo.
8. Leftover tequila from Cinco de Mayo - I think the bottle is pretty.
